Idiom: Piece of cake

No, when someone says that the assignment they just finished was a piece of cake, it does not mean that their professor gave them a chocolate cupcake for their midterm paper. What piece of cake actually means is that something is very easy to complete.

Definition: Something easy to do. Something easily accomplished, no problems.

Examples:

I had no trouble finding your house, it was a piece of cake.

The first time I made dumplings it was very difficult, now that I’ve been making them for 30 years it’s a piece of cake!

I’m glad I could help you, the project was a piece of cake.
